Rahul writes a reply letter to his father. His first rank has slipped to the second. His father always asks him to think before answering. Rahul says he has thought and hence his rank has become the second. Rahul shares his thoughts. He asks why we study Newton's laws and Pythagoras theorem in schools
Rahul writes about his grandfather. Grandfather always speakers of his carefree childhood. Studies were only secondary for him. Rahul asks his father if his grandfather telling lie or if the world has changed a lot within 70 years. Rahul then writes about his grandmother. She is not well educated. Yet she lives happily. Rahul asks his father if literacy makes us uncomfortable.
Then Rahul describes what is happening in his school. His rose plants died some days ago. He asked his biology teacher what to do. She asked him to go and ask a gardener. Rahul says he wants his rose plant to healthy. He has to know how to use a fuse in his house. He wants to know how to use a carpenter's tools. But in the school, he studies only hypotenuse, rational square roots, etc.
Rahul says once he asked his grandmother how she became so wise. She replied that she became wise by living and experiencing. Rahul asks if they are really living or life just passing them. Rahul explains how he lost the quarter mark. It is something related to grammar. Rahul says he has to obey his teacher and believe whatever his teacher says. Rahul concludes the letter saying that he will try not to lose even any quarter mark.
